Cascais for Food & Wine Lovers

Discover Cascais in one day. We start visiting the “lota”,  the Cascais’s fish market where we can fell the colors and listen to the “pregões” (fishmongers sayings). We will enjoy a snack of delicious “joaninha” (egg and almond sweet biscuit ) with a “bica” (expresso coffee).

After a short walk,  we arrive to the restaurant where we are going to cook our lunch. Our Chef will teach us all about Portuguese main ingredients, cooking techniques and much more. During the lunch, our  Sommelier will do a brief presentation about Portuguese wines.

In the afternoon, we will visit the King D. Carlos Sea Museum, with six permanent exhibitions to choose from. We recommend the Seafaring and Navigation exhibition, which focuses on historical and technical aspects of Portuguese maritime history. Later, some sightseeing and shopping through the town will take place.

At the end of the afternoon, we must arrive in Oeiras to visit the vines of Carcavelos, white and red grapes which gives us this delightful king’s wine. The tour continues and in the wine cellar the  Sommelier will host a very special wine tasting with wines poured directly from the cask to your glasses. To end, a match made with Carcavelos unique wines and local sweets recreated from ancient recipes such as “carcaveló” (sponge cake) or “queijadas de Oeiras” (chestnuts cupcakes) will make a sweet goodbye!
