Peru Pisco, wine and gastronomy

Peru is a privileged country. It is a country where local cultures; Asiatic , Arabic  and European  have melted together to create one of the best gastronomies of  the Universe.  It has a great variety and high quality of products. Some of them are a legacy to the world. For example, they have more than 2500 different types of potatoes, with different textures, flavors and colors. Come to Peru, you can’t miss a place with thousands of flavors and sensations to enjoy.

Day 1 -  Lima

Arrival in Lima, the "City of Kings". Famous for its Spanish Colonial architecture, extraordinary museums and cuisine. Lima is internationally recognized as the "Gastronomic Capital of the Americas", and its cuisine is considered among the most diverse and exquisite in the world. Upon arrival a host will meet you and transfer you to the selected hotel for check in and rest. 
Day 2 -  Lima – A culinary experience

After having breakfast at your hotel, we will pick you up to start our Peruvian gourmet experience with private services. First, we will visit a local fresh food market where we will learn about the most traditional ingredients of Peruvian cuisine. Also, you will learn  about how to prepare the most traditional and popular Peruvian dish: the ceviche (Peruvian marinated raw fish); about the history and process of Pisco (Peruvian traditional liquor); and about history of Peruvian food in general. So after this, the real fun begins, as we will participate in a master class on how to prepare ceviche by one of the best chefs and in one of the best cevicherias (ceviche and seafood restaurants) of  Lima. After this, we will go to a traditional tavern and Pisco cellar to taste different drinks based on Pisco. Later,  we will enjoy a traditional Peruvian lunch buffet in a local restaurant, which will include domestic soft drinks. And finally, at the end of the afternoon, we will stop at a very special shop where you will have the opportunity to buy books about Peruvian new and traditional cuisine and other souvenirs. Rest of the afternoon at leisure. At night, you will be transfer to a gourmet restaurant for a gastronomic experience. 

Day 3 -  Lima – Pachacamac Temples and Peruvian Paso Horse Show – Paracas

A drive along the Pan-American Highway with its views across the beautiful Pacific beaches will take you back in time.  Visit to the Pre-Inca ruins of Pachacamac considered by many to be the most important archaeological site near Lima. Four hundred years before the Incas, the Ishmay culture developed a major ceremonial center, featuring streets, dozens of temples fitted with ramps and the Painted Temple. Continue to a delightful demonstration of the skills of the Peruvian Paso horse, a unique member of the horse kingdom. “Caballo de Paso” known worldwide for their smooth gaited movements and unusual spirit. No other horse combines strength, intelligence and beauty so perfectly as the Peruvian Paso Horse. The particular characteristic of the Paso Horse is precisely the reason for its name: the sublime charm of its typical step.  A stop for a typical lunch will be done. Continue our trip to a very singular Pisco factory  located at Totoritas beach. It offers a guided tour of their facilities, where you can appreciate  the whole production process and taste the different kinds of Pisco this house produces. Arrival in Paracas to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 4  - Paracas -  Ballestas Islands   

Very early in the morning, let’s enjoy a yacht ride to the Ballestas Islands passing the “Candelabro”. These islands, also known as the Guano Islands, constitute the habitat to large concentrations of sea birds and sea lions colonies in their natural environment. “El Candelabro”  (The Chandelier) is a geoglyph of more than 394 feet long, better appreciated from the ocean. 
After this , we will visit a vineyard located at the Panamericana Sur road . The hacienda has an area of eight hundred acres, which are dedicated to seeding seven varieties of Pisco grapes,(aromatics: Italy, Moscatel, Torontel, Albillo and non aromatics: Quebranta, Negra criolla and Mollar). You will have the opportunity to enjoy a Pisco tasting and learn about the process of how they elaborate the Pisco.
Enjoy a Creole buffet lunch and a Peruvian Show. 
Day 5  - Paracas – Ica – Nazca

After breakfast today, visit to a traditional wine producing cellars. In these cellars, they elaborate
Pisco in a traditional way using distillers made during the Colonial time. We will also visit industrial cellars  dedicated to the elaboration of wine and Pisco while they still maintain their colonial characteristics of grape processing. Wine tasting will be possible during visits for your enjoyment. Continue to Nazca and check in at your hotel.

Day 6  -  Nazca Lines – Lima 

Take a light breakfast today.  In the morning, we will transfer you to Nazca aerodrome to get aboard an aircraft to flight over the mysterious Nazca Lines, huge drawings that only can be seen from air and represent different objects , insects and animals such as Monkey, Humming Bird, Condor, Lizard, Spider, Hands, an Astronaut and many other lines crossing the desert of Nazca. The way they were made is still a mystery. In accordance with a theory they formed a huge astronomical calendar representing constellations. The pilot of the aircraft will give you a brief explanation about the different lines. In the afternoon, after this overflight return to Lima. At a convenient time, transfer for a farewell dinner in one of the exquisite world known restaurants of Lima. You could choose the type of food from Asian to Peruvian or fusion. Enjoy!  

Day 7  - Lima

Enjoy and relax some free time for personal activities until it is time for our guide to assist you and take you to the airport to board your flight back home or into your next destination.

Day 7 - Lima  – Cusco

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel while waiting our guide to transfer you to the airport to take a flight to Cusco. Arrive in Cusco. Your private transportation will be ready. Check-in at the hotel and take a little rest. Lunch at a typical restaurant where we will be able to experience the famous Pachamanca, the traditional dish of this region of the Andes, prepared with different kinds of meat, tubers and herbs, all mixed in a very specific proportion and cooked underground by heating river-bank rocks.  In the afternoon,  visit  of this beautiful city’s main historical monuments and buildings, former north capital of the Inca Empire, and its different “barrios” or districts; as well as the nearby  ruins of the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay.  
Day 8 – Cusco  - Machu Picchu 

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken to the railway station to take a train to the impressive city of Machu Picchu. It was discovered in 1911 by the North American explorer Hiram Bingham.  Enjoy a guided visit of mythical Machu Picchu, "the Lost City of the Incas", considered one of the Eight Wonders of the World. After the visit, we will enjoy lunch in a local restaurant near the precinct.
In the afternoon, return to Cusco on the train. Arrival at the railway station, assistance and transfer to the hotel.

Day 9 -  Cusco – Sacred Valley of the Incas – Cusco

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, a full day excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas will take place with your guide. In the morning, visit the Indigenous handicraft market and the ruins of Pisac and have a nice lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit of the Fortress of Ollantaytambo. Return to the hotel and at night, our guide will take for a farewell dinner with a regional cuisine degustation to a local restaurant.

Day 10 -  Cusco - Lima

Get ready for your last breakfast in this unforgettable town and at a convenient time transfer to the airport to take a flight back home or your next destination.
